This worked well as a one-night stop during a longer trip, though I wouldn’t choose it for a week’s holiday. The owner was very welcoming and friendly, even though we couldn’t speak each other’s language. The views and setting are lovely, but the property feels a little worn. My room was okay, the bed was comfortable, though the pillows didn’t suit me. Breakfast was pleasant, and Jaques’ omelette was a hit. There were so many flies inside the main building that breakfast was constantly interrupted. The host clearly tries hard, which I appreciate, but I probably wouldn’t stay again.

We were made to feel very welcome by André. It’s a peaceful place in the countryside, only a five-minute drive from central Belley, with spacious, pleasant rooms. Breakfast was excellent too. Highly recommended.

The sleeping area was filthy, like a rubbish dump, and we had flies and cockroaches in the room. Even flushing the toilet took some preparation. The host initially seemed pleasant, but later got angry about something trivial and excused his outburst with a personal issue that had nothing to do with us. He also seemed sure he’d told us when breakfast was, though he hadn’t. The welcome was very informal: he greeted us in a tank top and shorts, and wore the same outfit for our whole stay. Maybe that sounds minor, but it added to the experience.

The motorcycle could be parked safely, and the breakfast was excellent. You can also order pizzas. The owner does everything he can to make guests feel comfortable and be helpful.

We slept well in a quiet, comfortable room that had been prepared nicely and was very clean. Breakfast was wonderful, with homemade bread and jams, plus the bonus of a galette des rois. Many thanks.
