The kids loved the water slides and trampoline, and the setting is beautiful. It's a small campsite that's clearly well looked after, with big pitches too. The staff were so welcoming and really helped us extend our stay. We'd happily come back.

We spent 12 nights here while visiting our son, who was working nearby. The pool was a real treat, spacious and in a lovely setting, and the slides were fun. Staff were friendly and clearly put a lot of effort into keeping the site looking nice. They also had entertainment some evenings at the snack bar overlooking the lake. It could get a little noisy at night depending on the guests, but nothing too serious. Our pitch had loads of space, and the shower blocks were never far away. Both were regularly cleaned, with enough showers that we never had to wait. We had a lovely holiday, thank you.
The pool was stunning, quiet enough to feel almost private, and right by the lake, bar and restaurant. We had such a great stay at Camping la Comtesse. After two rainy days in Brittany, where we'd booked eight nights, we packed up and drove south, arriving around midday on Wednesday. The owner greeted us at reception with such a warm, bubbly welcome that we felt at ease straight away. Our grass pitch was a good size, with an electric hookup close by. The campsite is surrounded by greenery, and the toilets and showers were nearby, clean and not dated. Juan, who runs the bar, is a real character, funny and helpful. His food was great too, especially the paella we had one evening. There's a Spar shop three minutes up the hill by car for fresh morning baguettes, and supermarkets within 15 minutes. The owner suggested Hossegor beach, which we loved and would recommend. San Sebastian, just over the Spanish border, is about 1 hour 20 minutes from the city centre and is worth a visit too. We were gutted to leave and will definitely go back someday.
The staff really made this beautiful campsite in the French countryside special. When my car broke down onsite, they were kind and thoughtful and helped me get everything sorted. The surrounding scenery is stunning, and everything we needed was close by. I'd highly recommend it and will definitely return.
We found Camping La Contesse on Google Maps and ended up extending our stay twice because we liked it so much. The owners gave us a warm welcome and were friendly and helpful. Juan deserves a special mention too. We ate at his restaurant most nights, which is unusual for us, because the food was that good. The paella and the flambéed dessert he made were especially good. When we asked where to find Foie Gras, he arranged a visit to a nearby farm and came along to help translate. What service. Thanks to Juan and the owners for making our stay so pleasant and memorable. There's plenty for families here: a swimming pool, kids’ pool, slides and restaurant, plus table tennis, a trampoline, bouncy castle, boules and darts. The huge pitches have little hedges for privacy and trees that give lots of shade. Wash areas were clean, there was plenty of hot water for free showers and for doing dishes or laundry, and residents could use a washing machine and dryer.
