Hôtel les Iris Berck-sur-Mer

The room was clean and tidy, and Room 4 had a comfortable double bed where I slept really well. There were plenty of plugs, and parking was free. The staff were great. The two women who checked me in were both lovely. One was there around midday and spoke good English. The other arrived around 4 pm and spoke less English, while my French is limited too, but we managed to communicate, checked in smoothly and had a laugh. I didn’t try breakfast, so can’t comment on it. It’s a two star hotel that got the basics right for me. The only real drawback was no air con, though the windows open fully. There were a few cracked tiles in the shower, but they didn’t affect my stay. Lidl, McDonald’s and Burger King are close by for fast food, or it’s up to half an hour on foot into Berck by the beach. I’d recommend the place, and learning a few French phrases might make check in easier.

I’ve just arrived and it already reminds me of the hotel this company has in Limoges. The staff are very friendly and, above all, helpful. My French is very limited and their English is limited too, but we still managed to understand each other. It was fun as well. A great place, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy staying here. MR. I stayed one night on the way home from a holiday, and this is an unusual hotel in a good way: very clean and uncomplicated. It’s 40 minutes from the tunnel, and the huge Carrefour next door is handy for picking things up on the way back without dealing with the Calais chaos. The parking is secure and uses a code.

The beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly, but the room was small. The shower smelled so bad and was so mouldy that we couldn’t use it, and the bathroom glasses were dirty. Carrefour and Lidl are close by, which is handy for supplies. The hotel only offered breakfast, which we skipped. We ate at a restaurant in the shopping centre, and it was okay, with typical French prices. McDonald’s and Burger King are within walking distance. We also spotted a Chinese WOK as we left the next morning.
