Le Homard Bleu

The fish is tasty.

The €35 set menu had some excellent dishes, and I still gave the restaurant four stars even though it was packed and service had its drawbacks. The place itself is pleasant. The owner was more or less friendly, though I imagine the summer crowds had a lot to do with that. The homemade foie gras starter tasted delicious, but after the wait, a single slice felt a bit skimpy. Between courses they brought us an apple sorbet. It wasn't bad, and it was an unusual idea. The ribeye with foie gras sauce was truly excellent, perfectly cooked, and came with potato gratin and a few vegetables, including salad and zucchini. For dessert, the chef's special was a homemade apple tart with salted caramel, caramel ice cream, and whipped cream. The presentation could have been better, perhaps to bring out the different flavors, but the taste was there.

The hotel is a little dated, but I really had no complaints about the stay. Our room was cleaned every day, the bathroom had a big tub, breakfast was delicious, and half board included dinner from an appealing à la carte menu. The owner and team were very friendly. The seafood platters looked wonderful and the wines were good. Only better weather could have made it nicer.

The food was delicious, though pretty expensive. €8.80 for a small salad to start felt like a lot. The staff were friendly and smiling, but seemed overwhelmed. Our table was forgotten twice, first when taking the order and then when serving. A group that arrived after us got served before we'd even ordered.
