Hôtel de Paris

The staff were welcoming and pleasant, and the room was spotless. Breakfast was a great buffet. There’s secure, paid parking in the courtyard, and the location is fantastic, especially if you’re travelling by car or motorcycle. I’d highly recommend it.

We found a cheaper option by leaving the car overnight in a nearby underground shopping centre, since the hotel’s parking quote was higher. The hotel itself was nicely presented and well placed for exploring the town centre on foot. Our room was comfortable and bigger than expected, but it didn’t have the advertised tea and coffee facilities. When I told the staff, they offered us a kettle, which did the job. Thanks to them for sorting it out.

The hotel is generally nice and in a great location, but the rooms vary hugely. Some are in the main hotel, others in outbuildings, and sizes range from small to enormous. A few also have very squeaky floors.

Our room was enormous, with a huge bed, plus dressing gowns and slippers. We only spent one night here while passing through, but I’d come back for a longer visit. We liked the hotel in the centre of Besancon, and the gated private parking cost 20 euros. We were happy to pay since we left the car there while exploring town. Breakfast was available for an extra charge, and although there’s no evening restaurant, plenty of places to eat nearby.
