La Poire Grange

Chris and Diane were welcoming and had plenty of useful local knowledge. We’ll be back. Our family suite was just right for two adults and three children when we stayed in March 2016. The children had a separate bedroom with comfortable single beds, while the double bed was lovely and comfortable too. There was a good-sized living area and lots of storage. The bathroom had a huge tub, a great shower, plenty of towels, and small dressing gowns for the children as well as adults. We also had tea and coffee facilities, an iron, and access to a mini fridge. It felt like a home away from home. Book it, you won’t be disappointed.

Breakfast was lovely, and the room had everything we needed for a good night’s sleep: a comfy bed, tea and coffee, and a well-designed bathroom that was spotless. We’d definitely stay again if we’re in the area. We’ve visited twice and Chris and Diane have made us feel welcome both times. The place is in a quiet part of a small village, close to the picturesque Villedieu les poeles. They were very helpful with restaurant tips and know the area well, which came in handy. It’s also near plenty of lovely places to visit, including Mont St.Michael and the beautiful beaches at Granville.

Take the map Diane sends once your booking is confirmed. SatNav got us lost, so don’t rely on it. We spent five nights at La Poire Grange. It’s peaceful and a good choice if you want to escape the city crowds and hotel chains. Chris and Diane made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, and offered plenty of advice about seeing the main sights if we needed it. The accommodation is excellent, with high-quality fixtures and fittings. The traditional French breakfast, free parking, and WiFi all added to an enjoyable stay.

The meals are very good, with generous helpings to start the day well. It’s also motorbike-friendly, and the host has a Bonneville. I’ve stayed at this lovely B&B quite a few times and am heading back this June for the D Day celebrations, about an hour away. It’s in peaceful countryside, yet just a five-minute drive from shops and bars. Over the years, I’ve seen the old building renovated by Dian & Chris, who’ve put their heart and soul into it. By motorcycle, the drive takes me about an hour from Caen and around fifty minutes from Cherbourg.
