The rooms were clean, but very outdated, and the welcome from the manager was aggressive and unpleasant. Running a place like this calls for some friendliness. A smile or kind word wouldn't hurt. A robot would have been more welcoming! We won't be coming back. Avoid this place.

The welcome was good, and the products were very good. The Auvergne specialties were simple, tasty, and generous portions. Special mention for the children, who got to enjoy proper dishes for once instead of nuggets, steak and fries, or pasta. The decor has that slightly old-fashioned feel of an old hotel.

I didn't find it especially noisy, despite what some other reviews say, and the bedding was adequate. It's a bit dated, but good value for money. Breakfast was standard and plentiful. I was disappointed by all the signs saying "no this" and "no that."

We can't comment on the hotel's quality, as we've never stayed there and obviously never will. This review is about the manager's unfriendly behavior. We'd booked six different accommodations for a week-long hike, and this one asked for a 50% deposit, by far the highest amount. Five days before our booking, a death in the family meant we had to cancel. The hotel first asked us for "proof," specifically a death certificate, which we supplied. Since then, there has been no reply or offer of even a partial refund. That seems unacceptable enough to mention. The other accommodations sent kind messages of solidarity, which this hotel didn't, and kept their deposits too, though those were much smaller. Given the amount requested, we didn't ask them for a refund.
