The Originals City, Hôtel de France

Pierre and his family made us feel like we were visiting their own home. They’re so friendly and clearly put a lot of care into looking after guests. I was there on a business trip with my wife and baby, and all three of us had a great time. My wife and baby enjoyed it too. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the region.

I still think about the steak and chocolate mousse here. They were the best I’ve had in forty years of trips to France. The rooms were clean and modern, and the staff were friendly and helpful. With food like that, I can’t understand why it isn’t packed every night.

The staff were pleasant, but the hotel itself was very sad. There were damp problems everywhere, and the car park and back entrance had poor lighting. There are plenty of other issues I could list, but it doesn’t seem worth it. I’m surprised the "Originals" brand took this on without a major investment first. I could have uploaded dozens of pictures showing the problems, but that would feel unfair. Sorting out a difficult problem has been made worse by the pandemic.

We had good food at reasonable prices, with excellent service and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Our dog was welcome to sit with us on the terrace. We’ll certainly come back, and I’d have no hesitation recommending this place.
