Maison des Palmiers

We’d return in a heartbeat, and next time we’ll book the room with the private balcony. The hosts, Sandy and Richard, were superb, attentive without being in your face, and helpful and informative. Sandy speaks French and English, while Richard is learning French. We stayed in L'Angelique, a beautiful, well-equipped room with a modern shower room, separate toilet and a large, very comfortable bed. Breakfast was a daily treat, with fruit, pastries, cereals, juices, bread and accompaniments, plus something hot if you wanted it. There was always a special dish, like blueberry muffins or a Camembert and Chorizo tart, and plenty of coffee or tea. We enjoyed it at leisure and didn’t need lunch. In good weather it’s served on the terrace, and when it’s cold in the stunning period dining room. We had poolside snack lunches twice: a tasty cheese and bacon toastie for my husband, Coquilles St Jacques for me, both with garnish, plus a glass of their well sourced, incredibly reasonably priced local house wine. We also had dinner there three nights, though it isn’t always available, so check which evenings when you arrive. One night was an extensive BBQ, and the other two were three-course meals. Everything was delicious and served in generous portions, so you won’t go hungry at Maison des Palmiers. During the day, chilled water by the pool was refreshed regularly. Sandy loves making cocktails, and as the yardarm appeared, we enjoyed some great ones. He’ll make something from his repertoire or come up with one to suit your taste. I couldn’t find anything to fault, and the other guests we spoke with felt the same.

A fantastic guest house, in an ideal spot and decorated with great taste. Relax in the garden with a delicious cocktail and Mona the cat for company.

Staying with Sandy and Richard in the Minervois was just perfect. Their house is tidy and clean, and feels like home. They’re wonderful hosts.

We loved eating in the garden, and Hillary and Dennis were so welcoming and friendly. The room was huge, and breakfast was spot on all three mornings. A wonderful B&B, definitely recommended.
