Beelodge Hôtel Blois Centre

The bed and pillow were very comfortable, and the room decor was simple but lovely. Breakfast was simple too, but tasty, with enough choice. The front desk lady on checkout on the 23th July was very friendly. The hotel is in a great spot, right by the train station, but I didn’t hear anything during my two-night stay. The city center is very close, which was convenient.

The staff were great, and this was a great base for traveling around with friends and bikes. The rooms could use some decoration, but the location is ideal, near the train Station and above the old center of Blois.

The breakfast and the location near the station were the saving graces. The room was spacious and clean, but the bathroom was basic, with only soap, and the shower design sent water splashing all over it. Service was poor. The air conditioning can only be controlled centrally by staff, not from the room, and the receptionist has to handle everything, including requests like that. Our A/c wasn’t working, and the room smelled bad. They tinkered with it for around an hour or more. When we asked to change rooms, they flatly refused at first, then finally did so after a lot of pleading. They provide tea/coffee, but in plastic cups, with no spoon to stir. I asked at the inhouse cafe to borrow a proper ceramic cup and got a No. That seemed to be their only response. There was no milk in the room, though thankfully they gave me some without making too much of a fuss.

The hotel restaurant was surprisingly good and priced about the same as places in the city. I visited in the off-season and found it affordable, with a more premium feel than you’d expect. Service was really helpful and friendly in French and English. Breakfast was included and good quality, with fresh bread and croissants, eggs and yogurt rather than the usual packaged food at other budget hotels. The room was very clean. Excellent experience and good value too.
