The owners are so welcoming and take time to chat, which made the stay feel special. There’s a big pool, and plenty to see nearby. The rooms were really comfortable, with incredible views from this little castle full of history. Definitely worth staying here to help support a beautiful place and local business.

It’s a peaceful spot with a beautiful Alpine feel, and the views from the large rooms are magnificent. The 1880s château has kept its historic character downstairs, while the bedrooms have modern bathrooms and a mix of furniture. There’s a pool, tennis courts, and an antique billiard table, though the cues are quite old. Cots and old sofas also fill the passageways. The rooms aren’t luxurious, and the suite is two connected bedrooms sharing one bathroom, with no separate lounge. There are no cooking facilities, but the nearest restaurant is only a five-minute drive away. Breakfast was a disaster. For €15 each, it was a basic continental spread, and one very overworked staff member was trying to serve around twenty people. We waited twenty minutes to be seated; cereal and yoghurt arrived after breakfast, and cheese was offered once we’d finished. She wasn’t to blame, and we were disappointed that the owner wasn’t there to help, especially as she said her assistant was sick. We felt the stay was overpriced, particularly compared with two other historic châteaux we’d visited the week before.

Exploring the castle and hearing about the D'Indy family was simply awesome. We also enjoyed the pool and tennis court, and Christophe and his wife Isabelle were super friendly when we chatted with them. The breakfast was delicious, served each day in a different room. We stayed five nights at Le Chateau des Faugs, and the welcome from a group of very friendly young people made us feel more like friends or family than guests. They helped us settle in, showed us around, and shared lots of ideas for things to do in the area. Our first-floor suite looked out over a pond and forest, a lovely view to wake up to. It had a large room with a double bed and a princess bed, a smaller room with two beds, and a very large bathroom with both a shower and a bath. Old furniture, paintings, decorations, statues, and lots of little objects made it feel like we’d stepped back into 1890. I imagine the other rooms are just as spectacular. Le Chateau des Faugs was the highlight of our stay in Europe this year. If you get the chance, go!

The staff were really friendly, and breakfast was great. The castle, once a museum, has been recently renovated and was very clean. Would definitely recommend!

A lovely castle, well cared for, with lots of artifacts from long before I was born. You can freely access the interiors of the rooms.
