Maison d'Hôtes Villa Brindille

I had a good stay, and the place was quiet and well looked after. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. At €59, the bed was very comfortable and I slept well for all three nights. The room itself was pretty basic and a bit spartan, though, and I would've liked a TV. The bathroom felt cold at first, but I got used to it with energy being conserved.

The room was simple but comfortable, with what we needed, and there was plenty of space. My partner and I spent three nights at Villa Brindille and soon felt at home in the peaceful setting of Bois-le-Roi. We were warmly welcomed, and the hostess was attentive and available when we arrived and left, which we really appreciated. Thanks again for a lovely stay! :)

The room was cold when we arrived, couldn't be locked, and was a mess. The bathroom was also a problem, especially the shower, where I found ants and mold. I took photos that showed it clearly. When I posted an honest account of the room on booking.com, the owner was shocked by my review, though I was even more shocked by the room. We had a heated argument with the guest, but it ended quickly when I mentioned I had photos supporting my complaint. The €79 price was outrageous for the room we were given. I waited a while to write this, but decided others shouldn't risk regretting a stay at this "maison." I'm happy to show the photos to anyone who wants to see them. Absolutely not for Italian guests.

We left with a terrible memory of this place. The manager pulled a sneaky, nasty trick. This isn't a hotel, just an old house, more like a one- or two-star hotel or a home stay. First, she asked us to cancel our online booking and pay cash, probably for tax reasons, which seemed most likely illegal. Then we had to extend our stay because of unexpected circumstances. She kept avoiding telling us the price in advance, though we should have asked too. If we'd known the price beforehand, we never would have stayed.
