Our flights from Europe were still cancelled because of Covid-19, so we couldn't travel and had to cancel the booking. The accommodation had only opened a few days earlier, but the owners still refused to return our deposit. They pointed to the booking terms, which we'd agreed to eight months beforehand, saying the deposit would be forfeited if we cancelled. They wouldn't make an exception even though it wasn't our fault, or give us extra time to rebook. Other places we'd booked were more understanding. It felt like they only cared about making easy money.

I couldn't reach them at all. On Saturday afternoon, nobody answered the phone.
