Eklo Hotels Bordeaux City center Bastide

The dorm was modern and clean, and having towels and privacy curtains on the bunks was great. Breakfast tasted good and had several choices, though the fruit was mostly rather old apples and oranges, and I’d have liked better options. The breakfast staff seemed rushed and very busy, so another person during peak times could help. It’s a little away from central Bordeaux, but a tram stop is very close.

It was very cold in the room for the first two days, and the heating gets pretty loud unless you keep it on level 1. I also didn’t realize brunch had to be booked ahead. The room wasn’t as cozy as I’d expected. The staff were really nice, and reception let me borrow a hair dryer, which I appreciated.

My room was clean and had a useful kitchen, plus two showers and toilets for six to eight people. There were two windows, including a skylight, and both opened. Blackout blinds, air conditioning, and heating were there too. The man at the desk was really nice and helped me after I booked at the last minute, late at night. Good location.

The room was small, but for one night I just needed a bed and a private shower, and that’s what I got. Reception service downstairs was good, and the hotel is well placed, just across the bridge from the main town. The main problem was the window. It opened onto an outdoor corridor used to reach all the rooms, so I couldn’t really open it to cool the room. I was at the end, so people didn’t have to pass my door, but I can imagine it’d be bothersome in one of the first rooms. There was at least one mosquito, too, and it kept waking me up as I slapped at my face.
