The Pink ground-floor room was lovely. We’d first been in Grey upstairs, which was spacious but felt much less homey and comfortable. The location is convenient, and it’s a lovely place, but check-in was a struggle. The door said to check in from 4-7 across the street at Tupiña restaurant, but it was closed then, and nobody answered the phone number posted there. With the preliminary email, you get the outside door code and your room’s lockbox code. Without it, you’re left struggling. I booked through a reliable third party, so I can’t say whether they dropped the ball or Maison Fredon did. Either way, the information on the door needs to be accurate and give guests a way to reach someone if the automated system fails. You’re really on your own!

The location is excellent, and the place is quirky, with interesting decor and a lit cabinet full of clear glass vases. It’s super clean, and the room is serviced daily. The bed is huge and comfy, but the room itself isn’t all that comfortable. We keep bumping our heads on the sloping ceilings, the bathroom water is warm rather than hot, and there’s only room for one person to sit in a chair at a time. Still, I’d recommend it despite the quirks.

We really appreciated the space after staying in standard hotel rooms during our travels. The room was large, with a king-sized bed, plenty of seating, and a big bathroom and shower. The staff were great and easy to deal with. It’s also wonderfully located near restaurants, bars and shops. We’d highly recommend staying here.

La Tupina is right across the street, one of the city’s most authentic restaurants, and Bordeaux’s sights, restaurants and cafes are all close by. We adored our two nights in the Rouge room, with its comfortable bed and generous living area. The decor is quirky and cool, and I loved the unique objets d’art. We didn’t spend much time in the room, but Martin was accommodating and helped with every request. A must-stay.

We loved the period details and high ceilings in our Rose room, along with the great amenities, including climate control. It was a beautiful, spacious room in this old part of Bordeaux, with a comfortable bed and a roomy, very nice shower. We’ll absolutely stay again next time we’re in Bordeaux.
