For the price, the hotel is central and cheap. But I’d rather have paid extra for a better stay. The room was dirty when we arrived, with a sticky floor and a bathroom that smelled of urine. That smell was gone the next day when someone else was working at reception. We met three staff members over two nights, and the man on our first evening, with long curly grey hair, was so unpleasant that I would have changed hotels if he’d been there again. He acted as if our being there was a bother, which is a strange way to treat hotel guests. It’s a standard low-cost European hotel in other ways too: small bed, no air conditioning, and mould in the shower. The location is easy to find and surrounded by bars and restaurants, but across the street there’s a recycling bin, so expect to hear bottles being dumped all night, along with drunk people shouting up and down the street. Breakfast costs extra, and it would have been another €40 for the two of us. There are cheaper, better cafés nearby. It’s a two-star place, so I’ll give it two stars. Cheap, yes, but I didn’t find it good value.

The location is the one real advantage of this old hotel. The evening clerk was so inhospitable it was almost comical. Every time we spoke with him he was rude, and he rolled his eyes when we asked a question. Since the bed pillows were flat, he told us to take extra ones from the sofa in the lobby. Breakfast was sparse, and the coffee machine is basically a Keurig. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The hotel should give its employees some hospitality training.

In the old quarter of Bordeaux, the location is hard to beat for the price. The rooms are quiet, comfortable, and perfectly adequate for a two-star hotel. This is an updated version of a much older property, and while it isn’t luxurious, there is air conditioning in the rooms. We found the staff friendly and welcoming. There’s underground public parking nearby, though it’s expensive in the city centre and has tight, narrow turns. We’d come back, but would look into parking and tram options more carefully first.

The location is the best part. The room was very small, and the hotel itself felt like an average budget place. Service was below average too. The staff were rude and unhelpful, and seemed to see guests as an interruption to their day.

Right in the middle of Bordeaux, this is a cosy little hotel with simple rooms that were clean and comfortable. That’s what I’d expect from a two-star place. It’s in the old town, and the tram straight to the train station is close by. Everyone was friendly. Ask the gentleman for places to eat, his suggestions were great and we ate really well. I’d gladly stay again.
