Château de Bouelles

We spent three days there with friends and would happily come back for a longer stay. The chateau has plenty of character, with beautiful crystal lamps and decorations throughout. Its rooms and general condition are decent, while the park and garden, with their ponds and maze, are well kept. Bring your own tennis rackets and balls: the ones provided are old wooden-frame models. It’s about a 2½-hour drive from Paris, with lovely views over Normandy’s forests and rolling hills. If you’re visiting from abroad, you could pair your stay with a trip to the west coast and its historical sites, including Omaha beach. It’s well worth visiting.

We had a beautiful top-floor room, and the gardens and small pool were lovely for cooling off in summer. The castle sits in an amazing spot, and the woman who checked us in was so sweet and accommodating, showing us around. Breakfast was yummy too. I’m a big Swarovski fan, so discovering that the gorgeous crystal chandeliers and all the crystal around the place belonged to the brand was the cherry on top. I’d definitely stay again.

Our wedding weekend was made so memorable by Serin and the on-site team. Serin welcomed us, answered our questions and helped with last-minute requests, and the immaculate grounds made for perfect wedding pictures. Chateau Ecperiences were responsive and professional, giving us the information we needed to plan smoothly. Chateau de Bouelles was a perfect setting for our wedding. Thanks to Serin and the team, we’ll definitely be back.

The house worked beautifully for our family gathering, and the views were breathtaking. We had 14 relatives there at the end of July for my mother’s 80th birthday, with ages from 5 to 80. There was plenty for everyone to do without leaving: pool, tennis, billiards, table tennis, lawns for croquet and badminton, a gym, and lovely grounds to explore. The accommodation was spacious, with 10 double bedrooms, all en-suite, over two generous floors. We loved the high ceilings and chandeliers, and the beds were very comfortable. The house was clean too. It felt secluded enough that we could leave doors unlocked and let the children be loud and unsupervised, yet shops were only five minutes away. The house had a grand feel without being so smart that we were afraid to relax or break something. Capucine and Serin answered our questions quickly and were around if we needed them, though everything was perfect and we didn’t need their help. A fabulous getaway for celebrating together.
