Hôtel Saint Jean

I really wouldn’t recommend this place. The welcome was heartbreaking, the hotel was unpleasant, and the parking is best left unmentioned.

The room was quiet, spotless, and clearly well looked after, just what I hoped for. Breakfast was just as satisfactory as the rest of the service. I only stayed one night, but the attentive welcome made a real impression. I’m very glad I picked this hotel for its location and reasonable room price. It was a lovely surprise and a wonderful encounter.

The hosts were charming and hospitable, and gave us recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants. The hotel also worked well as a base, sitting between the marshes, city center, and train station. A free public parking lot is just 20 meters away. Our rooms were spotless and well equipped, and the breakfast service was pleasant and convenient. The bathrooms are a little small, though still perfectly usable, even for a 6'6" (198 cm), 200 lb (90 kg) man like me. We really enjoyed our stay for a weekend exploring the city and its surroundings.

Breakfast was plentiful and very good, with the smell of pastries drifting up to the rooms. It was standard rather than continental, but I enjoyed it. My room faced the courtyard, so it was quiet, spacious, and very clean. The managers were especially welcoming and friendly, and had useful advice on what to see in and around Bourges. Street parking was often available. The cathedral is about a 10-minute walk away, and the city center starts just over five minutes from the hotel. I came away feeling very positive about both the stay and the managers.
