Domaine du Griffon

I loved the classic feel of this magnificent house from 1850, and Michel was an admirable host who looked after our comfort. The room was spotless and comfortable; the living room was fabulous, and there’s a little sitting room for reading or listening to classical music. It’s a simple place without the modern amenities of a hotel, but a wonderful spot to relax after a trip. If you order dinner, it will be impressive, and don’t miss trying his homemade wines. Highly recommended.

We stayed four days and felt very much at home. The family went out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Set in the heart of a quaint little French village, the place is surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. The rooms have a personal style, mostly plush and sometimes charming, though a bit dated and almost kitschy. Still, everything feels special and harmonious, and the quality is good. The owner is a psychologist and will cook dinner for guests if asked. It’s also a handy base for day trips to Narbonne, Carcassonne and Perpignan. 🤗 🎉

We stayed at the end of 2017, when the place was about to change hands. The rooms, dinners and breakfasts were all excellent. I hope the new owners keep up the standards of the previous one.

Michel was always attentive and gave us helpful suggestions for places to visit and eat. The house itself felt very welcoming and was beautifully decorated. It was a fabulous experience!
