Deltour Hotel Puy en Velay

At 10:00 p.m. on 11/10/2024, after riding nearly 700 km on my motorcycle, I arrived at this hotel and asked the receptionist how I could get the bike from the street into the parking lot. The young person who introduced herself as receptionist was very nervous and began yelling at me. I asked her to call the manager, but she refused. I felt helpless and called the police, who told her to give me the room card since I had paid. I never thought that in 21st century France, a hotel employee I’d paid would insult me on a national basis. It was a terrible experience. In reply to the hotel's response: Have you reviewed the camera footage or trained your staff not to swear at guests and use anti-Semitic language? The receptionist also told me my height and head shape scared her. That isn’t normal or professional. I’m even considering legal action against your staff.

I’ve traveled all over the world, but what happened at this hotel was horrifying. The receptionist was hysterical at the front desk and acted like she was crazy. She wouldn’t check me in or even ask for my documents. Luckily, I recorded her behavior on my phone and later showed the video to the police to document what happened. The management is defending her actions. It was total madness. Avoid the hotel if you don’t want to go through something like this. In response to the management: As you can see, the staff aren’t hesitant to insult guests, call them mentally ill, and argue with them. That only confirms what kind of staff they are. If you want to avoid problems, stay away from this hotel.

I felt safe and very welcome here as a woman traveling alone. The staff were friendly, the rooms spacious, and the place was peaceful, with a garden and secure parking. Dogs are welcome, and breakfast is made up of locally sourced products. There are walks along the river to le Puy.

The food was great, and the staff were friendly and spoke English. My room also had a fridge. The location is a long way from the city centre, though. Staff wouldn’t turn on the aircon because they said it gets cold at night, but it was hot during the day. I opened the window instead and ended up with flies in the room.
