The pitches are nicely shaded by trees, and there’s plenty of room for kids to enjoy the site. It’s about a 6 km drive to Le Puy en Velay, where the Saturday market is really good. There’s also a pool open from 10 am to 6:30 pm in July and August, plus a fridge and small freezer in the salle de animation. WiFi only reaches near reception, and there’s a pizza restaurant but no bar or drinks service, which seems odd. One real drawback is the distance to the only toilet block by the entrance. If you’re in the far section, pitches 48-71, it can mean a walk of around 300 metres. The campsite is quite large and costs a bit more than other Camping Municipal sites. Also, the entrance closes after 10 pm, so for the Le Puy light show you’ll need to leave your car outside.

We only stayed two nights, but this place will stick with us. The pitches are enormous, with a good mix of sun and shade, and it’s easy to relax here, take a walk along the river, or spend time at the pool. It’s also well placed for visiting Le Puy. The toilets were roomy and clean, and compared with many campsites we’ve used, this one felt much better and was great value.

We stayed six nights in June, when it was quiet, and had a brilliant time. Our pitch was huge, the biggest of the ten we used on this trip, and the other pitches looked just as spacious. The staff were all enthusiastic, helpful, and great to deal with. You can walk into Puy along the river, about 6 km, even though the site is out of town. The showers and toilets were perfectly fine, though few French campsites provide toilet paper. There are some superb day trips nearby. I’d ignore the recent bad reviews, this place is superb.

We cycled into Le Puy en Valens on the cycle track, and it was an easy ride. The site sits beside a young river Loire, with lovely countryside and places to explore all around. The grassy pitches are really large, and the restaurant was good, with locals eating there too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

There’s loads of room here, and cycling to Le Puy on the cycle tracks is easy. The toilets and showers were wonderfully clean. A wonderful site.
