Stars Lyon Bron

This was the worst hotel, hostel, hellhole experience of my life. I'm not a hotel snob, I've never left a review before, and I've travelled a lot while backpacking, including some dives in the outback. I'd never seen a place like this. I don't know when or where the online photos were taken. It's in the middle of nowhere, in what looked like a barren, run-down industrial estate. We walked about a mile in every direction looking for food or a way out and found nothing and nobody. It was eerie. The place was filthy. Carpets, walls, decorations, stairs, and banisters were stained, mouldy, rusty, and smelly. It felt like a motel from a horror film where prostitutes are found dead. I know that's graphic, but it's the closest I can get to describing it. Our room was tiny and dark, the lights didn't work, and the window was about 0.5 x 0.25m. Half the wallpaper strip was missing, the bare walls had brown stains, and there were elastoplasts stuck on them for reasons I couldn't guess. A strange rope hung across another stained wall. The bench was blue and chipped, and the sheets were dirty. The bathroom was a damp, infested closet built into the room, rusty and dirty, with a mouldy blue plastic sheet as a shower curtain. The shower was just a pipe from the sink that you had to hold up to make it work. My friend and I wouldn't even use the toilet. We were on a football trip, so that says a lot. We booked two nights but stayed only one, then chose a 7am taxi and a budget air b&b in an old block of flats in the middle of nowhere rather than spend another night there. So don't ever stay here, or you'll regret coming to Lyon. It completely ruined my experience. The staff were nice, though, and seemed used to people leaving early.
