Our hosts Sue and John were so friendly and welcoming. The house was spotless, and the peaceful setting made it easy to sleep well in a comfortable bed. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, too. There are plenty of lovely, interesting places nearby to visit.

The meals deserve a mention: breakfast was brilliant, and the evening meal is well worth trying if you want a fantastic dinner. Sue and John are great hosts, very welcoming and happy to cater for dietary needs. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped, each with its own well-appointed bathroom. The lounge and dining room are inviting places to relax. Numero 34 is a fantastic base for exploring the beautiful Cognac region, with lots to do. La Rochelle is very close, and the distilleries are excellent. Ask John about Balleut. We’ll definitely be back.

Sue and John Noakes welcomed us into their home so warmly, and nothing was too much trouble. They know the local area and French life inside out, and introduced us to Cognacs from different sources as well as a list of excellent wines. The accommodation was clean and excellent, and breakfast was superb. Numero 34 is in a tranquil spot with so much to see, close to Cognac and an easy trip to the coast. Thanks to you both for such a lovely stay. We’ll certainly come again for another adventure. Well done!

Sue and John are wonderful hosts, and the optional table d’hote is a delicious home-cooked meal if you’d rather stay in than eat in a nearby town. The place is exceptionally clean and well equipped, with a spacious, comfortable living room and British TV for a quiet night in. After a day out, the patio is a lovely spot to unwind with a glass of wine. This rural Charente-Maritime chambre d’hote is in Burie, about a 20-minute drive from Cognac and Saintes, and around 90 minutes from Bordeaux airport. The French-style continental breakfast is a lovely start to the day. We’d recommend Numero 34 for a relaxing, authentic stay in the countryside, and can’t wait to visit again!

Sue and John are wonderful hosts and know the local area well. The en-suite bedrooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast is a substantial continental spread. This is a delightful, traditional, very comfortable chambre d'hôtes in Charente Maritime, handy for Cognac, Saintes, and Angoulême, with easy access to La Rochelle or Bordeaux.
