We paid €19 for one night for two adults in a camper, with electricity included, and the private pitches were a good size. The site is pretty, well located, and the staff were friendly. The 6A supply meant we couldn’t use any of our onboard electrics. Water in the sinks was cold, and the showers only got lukewarm. There were no toilet seats or toilet paper.

The surroundings are lovely, with rolling hills and small towns along the way, and the campsite staff were nice. But it’s quite expensive for a tent, €19.50 for a night when I stayed. The ground isn’t flat, there’s no toilet paper so bring your own, and the showers send more water across the floor than down the drain. Wi-Fi is painfully slow and only available by the front gate. At night, some forest roads nearby can be pretty noisy if you’re in a tent, though it might not bother you in a van or cabin.

The owner asked for my passport and copied it without my consent. I objected and tried to explain that I only allow a full copy to be held by government institutions, my employer, or my bank. He disagreed, seemed to take it personally, got agitated, tore the copy into small pieces, and told us we were no longer welcome. When I tried to talk it through, he wouldn’t engage and ordered us to leave or he’d call the police. He showed us a box of passport copies, saying he always did it that way. We’d stayed at more than 10 other campsites on our holiday, and none of them copied our passports. In my experience it isn’t common practice, and I believe we have a right to protect our identity, even from well-meaning people like this campsite owner. After an excellent three-week holiday in France, this was where we’d stopped for the night before heading home. I wish him well and hope he stops policing his guests.

Such a quiet spot in beautiful surroundings, with lovely big pitches and very nice owners. A great place to relax. See you in June! A and J Torensen.
