Lagrange Vacances Les Résidences

The welcome was friendly at first, and the instructions were clear. But getting to the apartment was another story. It smelled musty and of sewage, the bathroom was damp-smelling, the shower curtain had mold, and the shower glass was covered in limescale. The bedroom dresser drawers were broken. I reported it at reception, and they told me the shower glass hadn't been cleaned because they were out of cleaning products. I'm really not sure I'll book with Lagrange again.

The person who greeted us was very warm, but we couldn't see photos of the accommodation before arriving. The apartment was dirty, and the bathroom badly needed renovation. We had to clean it ourselves as soon as we got there, including bleaching it thoroughly to get rid of unpleasant smells. We were surprised to be charged €29 for TV and €21 for water for two people at the start of our stay. We'd never encountered that before. The only good points were the lottery and the balcony. I won't return to this residence.

We asked for somewhere near the beach and ended up as far from it as possible. The apartment looked nice initially, but there was a strong mold smell throughout, especially in the bedroom. We kept the windows open all day, though had to shut them at night because of the noisy road. Very disappointing. I can't recommend it.

We had to walk 10 minutes to the beach, which wasn't great with two very young children, even though I'd booked a residence described as practically on the beach. After driving three hours with my daughters, aged 3 years and 7 months, I arrived at 6:30 pm at the reception on Avenue Morimbau and found nobody there, only a Lagrange-logo mailbox and a room left with bags of sheets. I called the number on my voucher, but nobody picked up. The central reservations number was the only way I got through to anyone. A helpful person understood what was happening and said he'd contact the on-site staff, then called back 10 minutes later to say he couldn't reach them either. My sister had another contact, who told us to collect the keys on Rue du Général de Gaulle in Cabourg, an address I hadn't been given. Then we were handed keys for Les Cabourgeaises, an apartment with an address unrelated to my original booking. What's the point of booking through a travel agency if you end up in a private apartment? Unacceptable. Avoid this place.
