It wasn’t quite the kind of hotel we expected, and the hours were a little different. They gave us a code, though, so we could get in. The room was comfortable and had a kettle, towels, and the basics. Street parking was free.

It’s a small hotel with very friendly staff and good value. Breakfast is optional for an extra €8, and the buffet was fine, with fresh bread, ham, cheese, fruit, and yogurt. I would’ve liked unsweetened cereal, and I was surprised there wasn’t a kettle in the room. Reception kindly let me use one. I’ll be back next year.

The rooms have a traditional look, and the hotel is a decent option close to central Caen. There are some good bars and restaurants nearby for a night out.

Colette, the hotel owner, kindly stayed up for us when we arrived after 10 pm, even though the city goes quiet early. The guesthouse is cosy, charming, and right in the centre. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. There’s a built-in cupboard, a fireplace, and creaky stairs that give the place character. On the nearby main street, The Living Room Cafe on Pl St. Martin opens early and closes late, with great croissants and hotel coffee. Stay here!

The host is really nice and can point out good spots for dinner and drinks. This small hotel sits at the edge of the city centre, and the rooms are old rather than fancy or modern, but they have what you need. There are stairs to climb to reach your room. It’s a very nice place for a low price.
