Apparthotel Tudor

I paid for two nights, but left first thing the next morning because I don’t like sleeping in a refrigerator. I’m American, and I’m getting the impression Europeans are cold freaks, since I froze at every place I stayed here. But this guy told me the heat worked, and it didn’t. I didn’t see the point in arguing to get my money back. For some reason, he wanted to see my passport when I checked in. I met a nice girl in the bar across the street, but I didn’t have the heart to bring her back to this toilet. I’m a nice guy, after all. These people are in for a rude awakening when global warming kicks in for real.

We booked somewhere else to stay within the first hour. The sink was black and mouldy, the frying pan was disgusting, and the shower looked minging. The place in the photos looks nothing like the real thing, and the toilet light didn’t work. Absolutely disgusting, stay well clear! I put one star just to get the review through, but I wouldn’t even give it that.

The good bits were easy check-in, a cheap nightly rate, decent Wi-Fi, a microwave that worked OK, and a good central location. But the hotel’s main door had a broken lock, and the room and bathroom weren’t very clean. Everything looked dated and tatty, the toilet seat kept falling off, and the kettle didn’t work. The cooker plates were dead, and there was no cookware despite it being advertised. The radiator stayed cold with no way to turn it up. Unfortunately, we won’t be back.

Late at night, after another booking fell through, we ended up here as a cheapish last resort. Check-in was fairly easy, and the man at reception, which was in a nicer-looking hotel around the corner, was pleasant and courteous. The place itself was dirty, dilapidated and noisy. The bed was the most uncomfortable we’ve ever slept in, and things in the room were broken, from the lights to the shower head. Luckily, I had a torch. This place makes the Bates Motel seem inviting. Just don’t.
