Grand Hotel

The room was dated and grubby, with just sheets and one pillow for three people sharing a king size bed. We were also told off for using the stairs, even though the elevator was slow and only fit two people at a time. Reception staff were rude and condescending throughout. They overcharged us, and the receptionist got upset when I waited near the desk to check in at 5:05, even though check-in was at 5 p.m. She spoke badly about me in French to another customer, apparently thinking I couldn’t understand, and other people waiting were shocked by how rude she was. When I asked for an extra towel, she said no and that we were lucky to have a room at all, despite our booking the day before. She was also annoyed that I’d booked through expedia, saying they had problems with them and had charged an incorrect, cheaper rate. After all the extra charges, we could have stayed at Hotel Balanea for the same price. We ended up there afterward and got a much nicer room and more competent staff. If you can, avoid this place.
