Hôtel les Deux Cols

This was my experience after 12 hours of cycling. My fingers were numb from the downhill, and with the last 15 kilometers ahead, I was already hoping to find any hotel. Then this place came up in my search. The village seemed empty, with no cars or people around. I parked my bike by the hotel, went into the restaurant on the first floor, and found maybe 30 people chatting, laughing, eating, and drinking. It felt surreal. I asked for a room and got the last one. It was 20 minutes before 9 p.m., so I had to shower and order quickly. The owners' family were super nice. I had the best dinner of my Spain/France trip so far. The room wouldn’t have been up to scratch for a normal stay, but that night it was more than I could ask for. The room cost 40 eur, which was very affordable, and the local dishes dinner was 24.5, plus 5 extra for wine, so it was quite reasonable too.

We had lunch here and found the food good quality for the price. Highly recommend.

The rooms were great, and the bathroom was fairly spacious. My only complaint was that the water temperature and pressure were hard to control. It went from warm to cold and back again. It wasn’t a major issue in summer, though I hope it doesn’t happen in winter.

The restaurant has lovely decor and is a really nice place to spend an evening. The food is lovely and very reasonably priced, and the staff are amazing and always welcoming. It’s popular and often busy, so book ahead. I’ll be returning soon.
