The lake view and cosy interior with a fireplace in winter make for a wonderful atmosphere. The food and service were fantastic, and the staff were quick and super kind. We sent our compliments to the chef. The homemade fries and potatoes were exceptional, as were the fondue savoyarde and wine. Lovely duck confit and crème brûlée too, from Leo, age 9. A must go! There’s a spectacular setting right by the lake, and we love coming here. The food is delicious and hearty, with a Quebecois (Canadian) taste that makes it a little different from many traditional French restaurants in the area. They have great beer on tap too. What’s not to love?
We never got as far as having that coffee. After a picnic by the lake, we came here with our two children, using the stairs down the muddy slope so we wouldn't carry mud into the restaurant. In the parking lot, an employee stopped us and questioned whether we'd seen the sign saying the stairway was private. At the same time, my husband put a handful of food scraps in a nearby bin because we didn't want to leave them lying around. The employee then scolded us for using his “private” trash can. I explained that we were hoping to get a coffee and asked if he'd still serve us despite the cold welcome. He said “of course...” without apologizing. We felt unwelcome and went somewhere else. If you're hoping for a friendly encounter, this isn't the place. It was surprising to be turned away like that in the off season, when you'd think a business would want customers.
