The lovely baroque music festival at Abbaye De Fontfroide near Narbonne was the reason for our trip. We wanted somewhere peaceful and beautiful to stay while hearing Maestro Jordi Savall, and we’ve often been lucky to find comfortable places with a bit of French character. Still, Chateau Des Fontaines stood out above them all. The generous host cares for the chateau so lovingly, and the garden is full of flowers with a fountain running through it. Inside, the rooms are richly furnished, spotless, and lush. Breakfast was included in our booking, there’s a lovely pool, and we had WiFi plus a list of delicious places to eat for dinner. It felt like stepping back into the baroque era. We can’t wait to hear Maestro Jordi Savall play the Viol, and discovering this place made our musical adventure so much better. We’re grateful to know it and hope to return again and again.

The owner is amazingly kind and makes sure you really enjoy your stay. This fantastic house feels like a work of art, and the garden could be Versailles. If you want to experience life in a chateau and feel like a king or queen, this is the place!
