Hotel Chateau De La Tour

The staff were lovely and friendly, especially the two women and young man serving breakfast. They did all they could to help, even in the crazy heat. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, with a lovely pool in a quieter part of Cannes. It looks lovely at first, but the bathrooms are tired and the rooms need updating. The air conditioning was the biggest problem. I called ahead after reading earlier reviews and was told it worked, but all it did was puff out air. We had a baby with us and worried about the heat. Even with it set to full at 17 degrees, our room never got below 27 during our stay. I called reception several times to ask if something needed switching on there, but it really was just that bad. After I complained that it was too hot for a baby, a man at reception lent us their fan. That made the stifling room just about breathable, but the heat still meant ten days of very little sleep. For what we paid, including extra for a deluxe room, I didn’t expect to need three cold showers a day. I wouldn’t book again unless they invest in a new, working air conditioning system. One breakfast tip: order your omelette and coffee as soon as you sit down. Mine never arrived on the first day, and I heard other families complain about the same thing during the week. It seemed the cook sometimes forgot a few orders. It didn’t happen again after that, and we were looked after so well each morning.

We’re two couples from Spain, and we’ve just spent three nights at Château de la Tour, a real gem tucked away in the heart of France. The owners, Christophe and Ivan, gave us attentive, dedicated service and a warm welcome. Christophe also prepared delicious dinners. Surrounded by lush greenery, the château keeps its charm and is tastefully furnished with period pieces that Ivan has lovingly restored throughout his life. We stayed on 15th July, the evening after getting engaged. I’d spent hours planning our road trip and was excited about this hotel, but the night was unbearable. We paid €179 to stay in a four-star hotel, and I honestly wouldn’t have stayed in that room for free. I’ve never written a bad review before, and I’m not someone who usually complains, but we were genuinely so disappointed. The air conditioning didn’t work, and staff knew about the problem when they put us in the room without telling us. When I asked them to come up and see how unbearable it was, they said they already knew about the air conditioning issue. They knowingly put paying customers in there. We didn’t sleep. My partner had a cold shower at 4am, and I was looking at the manual at 2am. I opened the main door onto the landing for air, something I’d never normally do. We opened the window too and got bitten all over. It was over 30 degrees that day, reaching 35, and putting a guest in that room was completely unreasonable. I would pay not to stay there. To the manager and staff who assigned that room, would you stay in it? It’s outrageous to charge people for it, and it makes me think they’ve treated other guests the same way without hesitation.

The standard room is very small, and breakfast is just okay but expensive. There’s free parking on the property, with space even for long cars. The grounds are beautiful, with a swimming pool and sunbeds. It’s a stylish, elegant, cozy hotel in a very quiet spot, and the staff are friendly. The centre is close enough to walk to.
