OKKO Hotels Cannes Centre

The breakfast was excellent, and the rooftop was great. The rooms are odd, though, quite small and with a view into the bathroom. Still, it’s a nice hotel in a great location.

Oliver at reception was such a charming, helpful guy. The location is great for the train and the city, and the hotel itself is lovely, though the rooms are compact with almost nowhere to put suitcases. The bathroom is open to view, which won’t suit everyone. We got mixed information about using the terrace. At check-in, we were told we could bring our own food and drinks, and that was fine the first night. On the second night we were told our alcohol wasn’t allowed, and on the third, even soft drinks weren’t permitted, so we stopped going. The woman in the restaurant was also constantly mumbling and making odd comments at us. I found her rude and her attitude put me off. Outside, there were people shouting and openly selling drugs, with drunks and drug users around much of the day and night. The police didn’t seem to care. I suppose that’s the crowd around a train station, but I found it unpleasant.

For exploring Cannes and the nearby towns in the South of France, this is a lovely base, and I’d recommend it. The hotel is simple but very comfortable. I was here for work and didn’t spend much time in the room, though the excellent location made everything easy. The station is only a two-minute walk away, so trains to and from Nice Airport, other destinations, and the high-speed train to Paris were easy to catch. The room was cozy, and the daily breakfast was convenient and a good way to start the day. I wasn’t keen on the bathroom design. The staff stood out most: Elyse and Sonia were kind and always ready to help with a smile, including adjusting my checkout time. The breakfast attendants were warm too, and made the mornings feel homey.

A special thanks to Mr. Samee at reception. After a difficult day, he was very kind and did all he could to help us feel comfortable. His hospitality made a real difference.
