The proprietor was attentive, polite, and helpful, with the sort of old school manner that reminded me of a fine Swiss hotelier. The service stood out most of all. I had an excellent stay and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

A quiet, charming little traditional French hotel, with friendly people. You can walk to the train station, and it’s well placed for both the town and the old fortified area.

The owner was very friendly and kept reception open past closing so we could check in late. We were also allowed to leave the car after checkout while we went exploring, and there’s free parking on site. The hotel feels like a time capsule, with its 19th century style inside and out. Some facilities are dated but functional, and the air conditioning took a while to cool our room. The location is great, a short walk to the city center and about 20 minutes on foot to the medieval fortress.

The room was very quiet and everything was very clean. Our hosts were lovely and keen to make us comfortable, and the continental breakfast was good. There’s private parking, though English-language TV was limited to BBC News, and there weren’t many restaurants within walking distance. We’re aiming to return at the end of our holiday.

The patron was kind, and we liked the rooms and old fashioned atmosphere. We had a two-room suite with a shower room between them, as well as one en suite. It’s not far from the new town’s main square, and there’s a tram to the old town. Comptoir Ludique is about a 10-minute walk away, with terrific couscous.
