Le Clos Saint-Fiacre

Booking.com says evening meals are available, but that wasn’t the case. The notices say the place is closed from 10 am to 6 pm, which gives you a clue about the welcome. We felt like our presence was an inconvenience. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I don’t think the people running this place should be in hospitality. Best avoided.

We wouldn’t go back. The host came across as somewhat dictatorial, and we had to be out by 10 am. We visited in September for one night with Wonderbox. The building and garden were nice, though the entrance and parking could use some work. The host doesn’t answer if you arrive before 6:30, leaving little time to shower before dinner, which is at 7:30 sharp. The dinner was good, but one bottle of wine was allowed for the eight people at our table. Breakfast was simple but good. The inside was cluttered with ornaments and quite dark, including our bedroom. Our room was dusty, and dusting didn’t seem to be a priority. The host pressured us to stay longer because he had an unbooked night, which gave us a sell, sell, sell impression.

The outside looked very nice, and inside there was beautiful antique furniture. But it wasn’t clean and seemed very poorly maintained. There was no soap or toilet paper, and we didn’t get enough towels. Breakfast was very dull.

Breakfast was basic, with just one cup of coffee, and the fireplace wasn’t lit. There was no outdoor lighting, and a small lounge to wait in before heading out to dinner would be nice. We arrived right at 6 pm, but you can’t come earlier, so it’s a shame to have to sit in the car. It would probably be more pleasant to visit in summer.
