Au Petit chez Soi

It’s a really nice, clean, quiet place, and the owners upstairs are welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. There’s fresh bread in the tidy little kitchen every morning. If you get easygoing, quiet people in your room, it’s a great spot to relax after exploring Cassis. The price feels far too high for a six-bed mixed dorm, though. It’s a small town, and there aren’t other budget places to stay.

The hostel is tiny, just two rooms with six beds each, so you’ll end up talking with the other guests. People are friendly, and there’s a small kitchen with utensils, plus free tea and coffee. Breakfast is free and consists of bread with butter or jam. The garden is cute, and you’re close to the beach and central cassis. There are downsides to being packed into such a small place. It can feel like you’re right on top of other people, which made me a bit nervous. The old bunk beds and rooms aren’t anything special. Street and church noise carries at night, and the mosquitos will bite you in the garden and even in bed while you sleep.

It felt really homey and clean, and the owners and everyone staying there were kind and relaxed. The hostel is close to everything and comfortable, with a super chill feel. One of the best I’ve stayed in, and I’d come back :)

I felt really safe here, even as a solo female traveler. Anne-Marie is lovely, and the other guests were kind and respectful too. A really good hostel stay, and I’d absolutely recommend it to solo travelers.
