I went to see an apartment ahead of an upcoming spa treatment. It had been recently renovated and seemed pleasant, with a reasonable price. The person in the reservations office was friendly and professional, so I booked it.

What’s most upsetting is that we’d stayed in the same place for two years and regularly rented accommodation there, so the landlord was known to other owners. We cancelled more than three months ahead, which we believe gave them plenty of time to rent the apartment again. Still, after my email on June 17, 2024 and a registered letter in early July 2024, they haven’t even replied, let alone read the message. We’re extremely disappointed, and this address shows a complete lack of humanity. We had planned treatment in Barbotan in April 2024, but my husband had been on long-term sick leave (ALD) since November 2023 and undergoing chemotherapy since late January 2024. I told the agency about the cancellation in December 2023 and explained the exceptional circumstances. Despite several emails, we still haven’t received our deposit back. It’s sad to see spa-goers being made to reserve accommodation for the following year at the same time as their treatments, while the landlord can make money from the situation. Even an oncologist’s certificate didn’t lead to an exception or reimbursement. The spa resort, by comparison, returned our deposit 15 days after we sent our letter. We’re extremely disappointed.

In 2020, we wanted to visit this spa resort, but COVID made it impossible. The spa refunded us, and I’m grateful for that. We’re still waiting for the money we paid to reserve the apartment, though. My issue is with the landlord’s attitude, not the location. I hope this helps before you book. I’m only giving one star because the site requires it to post.
