Kyriad Direct Poitiers - Gare Du Futuroscope

I've stopped here a few times because it's a really handy place to break up a journey. The rooms have a fridge and microwave, the mattress is comfortable, and guests can fully control the heating. There's lots of parking, and the place is friendly enough for dogs. Breakfast is usually good, though the selection is a little limited. I sometimes hear a bit of noise from other rooms, but most people settle down early, so it hasn't been a problem for me.

The hotel itself is decent, clean, and close to nearby amenities, but the customer service was terrible. The person working reception downstairs by the entrance, a tall, somewhat heavyset Black person, was unbearable. He acted as if he were doing guests a favor by being there, even though it was his paid job. He answered requests sulkily and without a smile. It’s shameful and pathetic for someone in a customer-facing role. You should fire him. He isn’t fit to work in tourism.

An easy check-in with friendly reception staff. This budget hotel is pet friendly and has its own car park, in an ideal location for Future scope. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable, with a fridge and microwave. No kettle.

The self check-in machine is quick, easy, and simple to use, and the fridge is handy, but there’s no water cooker. I’ve stopped here twice on road trips between the Netherlands and Spain, with Poitiers roughly in the middle of the drive. Both times, the rooms were dirty, with (toe) nails on the bathroom floor and a very funky smell. Dogs outside the rooms ate from the trash cans at night and made a lot of noise. There were also upstairs neighbors who seemed to be having a party, with loud music and shouting right outside their room. Saying something didn’t help. With no staff around to deal with noise, that’s another downside. It’s kind of alright for a quick one-night stop on a road trip, but what do you expect.
