The owner was very welcoming and took time to explain the wine list, talk about local history and describe wine production in the area. The house is old and well kept, and there’s a broad choice of local and regional wines, both regular and kosher, along with traditional French food. Maybe her taking time to talk is what bothered French customers who wrote what seemed like rage reviews telling people to avoid the place. It’s not for anyone looking for a fast-food-style experience. We only had a glass of wine and bought a bottle to take away, so I can’t comment on the food. But two groups, one from England or so and one from the Netherlands, seemed happy with their meals. I was also impressed that the owner checked whether the two families’ young children had enjoyed their meals, and both the children and parents were satisfied. I’d definitely visit Les Vignes de Sarah again.

The wine was nice, and it’s a small, cosy place. Smoke and the smell of burning food were coming out of the kitchen, though, and we waited 30 minutes for the bill.

It took an hour and a half to prepare two very simple plates. The foie gras was a 20g supermarket portion with three pickles for €15, and the cheese plate cost another €12.50 for the salad addition. The dairy seller didn’t smile once. This was a complete sham. Just go to the Chablisienne café instead, they’re charming and quick, with excellent value for money.

Families can relax here, with children free to play in the courtyard without being disturbed. It’s a charming wine bar in a winery courtyard, with delicious local wines and a laid-back, pleasant atmosphere.

The service was incredibly slow, and the quality wasn’t there. €45 for two glasses of wine and two snack plates is steep. Shameful, avoid this place!
