The rooms felt pretty basic for what they cost, and the wine list was another letdown. I come to Burgundy every year and used to spend a night at Bernard Loiseau, so choosing Lameloise this time was a mistake. Older vintages were scarce, and prices felt more like Paris or New York. I travel to Burgundy for Michelin restaurants to get access to some of the world's best wines, not to pay those prices. The meal started with forgettable amuse-bouches, including a salty foie gras lollipop. Langoustines in puffed rice reminded me, as someone coming from Asia, of a mid-range seafood place in a mall more than high-end French cooking. A spoonful of caviar didn't make it feel special. After that, the John Dory, scallops, and lamb were all ordinary. Next year I'll return to my usual stay at Bernard Loiseau.

The staff were so lovely, and the whole evening became a great birthday memory. My boyfriend had surprised me by booking the restaurant, and I loved the experience from beginning to end. The main course was great, but the soup stood out as especially delicious.

A real monument in the Burgundy where I was born. I've had the pleasure of having dinner there twice with my family. I'd need a whole book to describe it all!

The four gentlemen who looked after us were superb: professional, warm, and friendly, and they made the whole visit feel world-class. We had a wonderful lunch, with really good food and exceptional service. Thank you for making our day, we truly appreciated it.

We were given a quiet, private room, though it had no windows and the air could have circulated better. Service was very good, but not exceptional, and the food and service overall didn't reach the highest level. I've eaten at more than a dozen Michelin three-star restaurants in France, elsewhere in Europe, and NYC, and this didn't feel like the exceptional, memorable experience I expect from a three-star place. At Thursday lunch we had the tasting menu, or “degustation.” The strongest dishes were the amuse-bouches: beef tartare, local sausage, and a quail egg wrapped in bacon. Both the croissant/brioche and country bread were excellent. The trout with milk mousse was inventive, while the turbot with mini gnocchi was just fine. The little lamb chops were cute, but too small and served too cold. Granny Smith apple juice made a refreshing second palate cleanser in place of the usual sweet sorbet, and the caramel popcorn was perfect.
