There’s lots of character here, and the staff are charming and so friendly. The buffet has starters and desserts, with a big range of mains to choose from. The food is good, straightforward home cooking, served with a smile. At €17.50 for three courses on weekdays, the price is very reasonable. Love it!

The owner cooks everything himself, and his pride in making guests feel welcome really comes through. Even in the busy lunch rush, he took time to explain the menu to us in English. We loved our lunch here today. It was €17.50 for unlimited cold starters, one main course, and as much pudding or ice cream from the fridge as we wanted. Great value for a buffet-style meal.

My husband and I have eaten here many times, and it's been SO delicious every visit. I usually go for the magret de canard because it's simply too good to pass up. The buffet is excellent as well, with lots of impressive homemade choices. Fast, friendly service. Bravo l’Escale Gourmande on vous aime!

We meant to stop for half an hour, but ended up enjoying lunch for nearly two hours. The shepherds pie was just perfect, and everything was amazing, tasty home cooking, even the homemade chips/fries. We’d arrived quite late and were a bit unsure what we were ordering, our fault for not speaking better french. The owner/manager, a very happy, cheeky chap, explained what was available. We ordered four main meals with drinks, and at first I thought €80/90 was a little expensive. Then we realised that included buffet-style starters and desserts, bottles of water, and a basket of bread. Thank you all for a lovely lunch. We’ll stop by next time we’re in the area. For €17.50, the menu du jour is a help-yourself buffet of soup, starters, cheeses and desserts, plus a choice of six main courses. Examples include Cassoulet, Hachis Parmentier, Blanquette de poisson and pork steak. Drinks and coffee cost extra. The owner is friendly and funny, and the waitress was very helpful. Great home-cooked food. Brilliant 🤩
