Breakfast was amazing, and booking the grill BBQ dinner is a real treat. David was a wonderful host at this great B&B. I’ll definitely be back for a longer stay, and to see the dogs again 😬

We slept really well, and breakfast the next morning was delicious. There was bread, homemade jams, smoothies, yoghurt and crepes, served in the roomy main dining room with the other guests. The blackcurrant tart in the garden was lovely too. We were travelling home with our dog and stayed for one night. Our beautifully decorated room occupied the whole top floor, reached by a rather steep spiral staircase, and had a very comfortable bed. The shower and WC were downstairs, with plenty of hot water. Since the place is so quiet, we had booked dinner. David cooked a wonderful meal in the BBQ hut across the garden: homemade meatballs and salad, perfectly cooked Aberdeen Angus beef, flavoured rice and chargrilled vegetables. He also brought out five local cheeses, a basket of bread and a lovely local red wine. We’d happily recommend staying here.

David, the owner, gave us superb service and a great breakfast. This B&B is pet friendly, clean, comfortable and practical, and it’s been nicely restored. It’s in a small town near Blois. One of my best stays, and highly recommended for families.

We finally got our deposit back today, but they had taken €1.5 off the amount. I’m glad most of it was returned, though I can’t understand such poor customer care. We picked this place from the reviews because it sounded ideal for an overnight stop with our dog. We booked on May 9, then had to cancel the next day because of a sudden family emergency. We contacted the establishment straight away to ask for the return of the 50% deposit held to confirm the booking. We were giving more than 20 days’ notice, even though the booking conditions they sent us stipulated 7 days. David replied the next day asking for our IBAN, which we sent. After hearing nothing for days, I asked about the refund. I was told they needed to receive my payment first before they could process it. That seemed odd, since more than 10 days had passed since we paid the deposit. Even allowing for some holidays, a transfer between accounts in Europe shouldn’t take that long. A couple of weeks later I emailed again for a clearer idea of when we’d get the money back, but got no reply. We called and were told to ring in the afternoon to speak with David. After that, we could only reach an answering machine. Fed up with waiting and being ignored, this week I asked about the official complaints procedure. They said French law allowed them to keep the deposit, but that they’d return it in the next few days for commercial reasons. They also said their accountant handles these transactions at the end of the month, which didn’t match the earlier explanation for the delay.
