Big Sky Hotel & Spa

We had a wonderful time at Big Sky Hotel in Chamonix Mont‑Blanc. Our room looked out over the snowy Alps, an absolutely breathtaking view that made the stay unforgettable. The common area is spacious and great for relaxing or spending time with friends. The staff were friendly, kind, and professional, and everyone spoke fluent English, which made things easy and smooth.

The food was a highlight, with delicious breakfast and dinner. The only small downside was that the main restaurant is closed Sundays and Mondays. The pizza available those nights was excellent, though having only that choice for two nights in a row might not work for everyone. This well-maintained Chamonix hotel was otherwise a perfect stay. The facilities were in great shape, the staff were welcoming and very helpful, and it’s exceptionally kid-friendly. Our child loved the pool, heated just right for cold weather, the outdoor snow areas, and the kids adventure room. Ski areas are nearby, equipment is available to rent, and the parking is very large and free.

We felt at home as soon as we arrived, thanks to the welcoming staff and all the little details they took care of. The hotel is beautiful and not far from Les Houches ski station. Breakfast, the bar, and the spa together made for a one-of-a-kind Chamonix experience.

We booked for a family of four and took the half-board offer, expecting an easy, family-friendly stay. It turned into a frustrating experience with poor communication, little flexibility, and subpar service. At check-in, we were told we had to pay extra for our 2-year-old because “he also eats.” That hadn’t been made clear when we booked. Our reservation was for four people, and we didn’t create the offer ourselves. Staff insisted we’d only bought half-board for three and suggested our toddler could have a zucchini or a side dish, which was frankly unacceptable. After going back and forth with them, I asked to cancel the stay and refund the unused nights so we could move to a hotel with better hospitality and communication. Instead, they canceled our half-board arrangement, making things worse. Service was inconsistent and sometimes outright poor. Some waiters seemed to lack even basic hospitality. In the middle of a meal, I asked for a small spoon for my child, and the waitress just pointed across the room before going back to standing around. The food didn’t help. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were among the worst I’ve ever had, and the pool was uncomfortably cold. This wasn’t the kind of stay we expected while traveling as a family.
