ibis budget Angoulême Nord

The room was meant to have a little seating and eating area, but there was just one chair for two people. It was hot, so we pulled the duvet out of its cover and slept with just the sheets. That exposed some really nasty brown leftovers on the duvets. The bar is overpriced, too. I booked and immediately got a long message asking me to leave a very good review. I won't, because the stay was mediocre. Never again. After I posted this, the owner quickly replied that I had reviewed the wrong hotel. I did stay at Ibis Budget Angouleme Nord. The bar is in the connected building and serves Ibis Styles, which is connected to Ibis Budget, where there's only reception and the breakfast area. That response makes it seem like they're more concerned about their reputation than the quality. I should have taken pictures.

The location was great, easy to find, and the staff were lovely. But the mattress was clearly well used and poor quality. After spending quite a bit at the bar in the adjoining ibis hotel, we asked for tap water there and were told no because we were staying at the budget hotel. That was awful.

It's cheap, and you get what you pay for. The friendly staff and generally clean surroundings made it fine for a night while travelling, but I wouldn't choose it for a longer stay. The rooms have low standard furnishings and the beds aren't very comfortable, though the bathroom is ok. The location works well, with restaurants and shops nearby and the highway exit only a minute away.

The price is great, and the location is handy, just off the motorway with good facilities nearby. I've stayed here many times and it's my first choice. The receptionist was pleasant and made me feel welcome, and the rooms are spacious and clean with plenty of TV channels.
