The view from the room was of the railway station parking lot. The owners were unfriendly, and there was nobody at reception when I arrived. Nobody spoke English. The design felt misguided: they seemed to be going for an urban look, but the small lobby, empty bar, and little rooms had no atmosphere. It felt cold and unwelcoming.

We had two rooms that weren't even next to each other, and both had the same issue: regular running-water sounds and an annoying buzzing that made sleeping impossible. I suspect it was connected to the air conditioning, though I'm not sure. We didn't have the air conditioning switched on. The hotel response suggested that if someone in another room "misuses" the air conditioning, you won't be able to sleep. That's quite unbelievable. It was the worst night's sleep I've ever had in a hotel, and I've stayed in hundreds. Truly awful, avoid at all costs.

The hotel is the worst I've ever stayed in by a country mile. We were shouted at repeatedly by a woman I believe was the Manager, and the service was incredibly bad. Someone working in hospitality should know how to welcome and deal with guests, but this person did the opposite. It began when we accidentally left a side gate open and she yelled at us like naughty children. At 9pm one evening, we went looking for water because there was none in the rooms. We made the fatal mistake of opening a cupboard near reception in case there was a bottle there. The Karen confronted us and screamed, asking how we'd feel if she came into our house and searched the cupboards for water. We'd paid £800 for two nights, so I thought it was perfectly acceptable. She kept going on about it and said we had to show respect. You have to earn it, you bitch. A few minutes later, we went downstairs to secure our bikes further. As we left through the back door, I made a tiny whistle, another fatal mistake. The crazy one screamed at us again and threatened to throw us out immediately if there was any more. We went to bed instead of telling her she needed help. Later, she shouted at us again for talking outside to a former colleague we hadn't seen in years, saying we had to respect the other guests. We were guests too. We were greeted at first by a very friendly man who happily welcomed us into the hotel. The rest of the experience was totally unacceptable. Be nice to guests who are paying your wages. Come to this hotel, they said. No thanks.

The hotel has a very modern style, but the toilet in the room had no privacy, just a sliding door and an open roof. On the first night, the air conditioning made a strange noise every 15 minutes, so sleeping was impossible. Guests aren't allowed to use the air conditioning, which meant we couldn't turn it off. We tried reception, but nobody was there or answered the buzzer.

The bed and pillow were the best ever, and the design was trendy. Staff were welcoming and nice. It's close to the train station but on a very quiet street. I stayed one night before catching an early train the next morning, and it was perfect for that.
