Campanile Chartres

The room was good, and dinner tasted great and was well cooked. The menu called it cassoulet, though what arrived was quite different from what I expected. Drinks were sadly overpriced, which made eating out as a group cost more than it should.

A typical three-floor Campanile, in a good location but standing on its own, with no other restaurants in sight. The evening staff were pleasant and helpful. We stayed on our way home with half board. Dinner was all buffet, starter, main, and dessert, and the quality was okay, though the ray wings looked dire. The room, bed, and linen were clean and tidy. Breakfast was awful, with very little choice and poor quality food. Probably the worst of the Campanile hotels we’ve stayed at in recent years, and nowhere near our stop at Campanile Senlis last year. I suppose that’s what franchising leads to.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the prices were reasonable. Rooms were clean, nicely equipped, and had air conditioning. Pets are welcome too. The restaurant and bar attached to the hotel were fantastic, with lovely buffet food. Breakfast was especially nice, with help-yourself food, coffee, tea, and fruit juice.

I picked this hotel to save some money after looking at pricier places, and I’m glad I did. The staff were great, the location was easy, and the room was nice. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything.
