The Originals Access, Hôtel Clermont-Ferrand Nord

The welcome was friendly and the staff were very helpful, which is why I can give it two stars. The bed was okay, but the rest of the room was absolutely filthy. The carpet smelled of old socks and sweat, and there were spiderwebs and dust everywhere. The bathroom was a disaster, with a tiny shower, few towels, and a need for repairs and a proper bleach cleaning, as the pictures show. There was roof debris at the window, and one hotel wall was crumbling a bit. It’s a fun idea, but the building just isn’t up to the task anymore. Honestly, it feels like the hotel is taking its last breath before demolition.

I was left stranded last night after booking a room on booking.com. The self-check-in machine couldn’t find my reservation, even after I tried the reservation number, surname, first name, and every combination. When I called the out-of-hours emergency number, I could hear it ringing in reception. I tried to make a new booking, but the hotel was full. Absolutely unacceptable.

Breakfast included cheese, bread, ham, croissants with Nutella and honey, plus juice and coffee. It’s a great place to swim and get some rest. The drive into town takes a few minutes, but the stay is worth it.

The pool was lovely, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The rooms are small, clean, and basic. Sadly, there’s no air conditioning, so getting to sleep in the heat wasn’t easy.
