Mas des Retrouvailles

The welcome started off well, so we expected a nice stay, but that changed as soon as we saw the room. It badly needs updating, and there was plenty of dust, fruit flies, and rust. The bedding was mediocre, and traffic noise started around 6 am. Breakfast and dinner came with the package, but both were very small portions, perhaps fine if you’re dieting. This is advertised as a bed and breakfast, yet linens and towels cost extra. At dinner we asked for a carafe of water and were given a bottle of Volvic instead, which we had to pay for. For our Wonderbox night with breakfast and dinner included, we were charged €46 for a 25cl glass of Coke, a glass of banana juice as an aperitif, linen and towel rental, the Volvic, and a cheese plate we accepted because the meal tray was so small. Charging for linens and towels seems outrageous for a place presented as a bed and breakfast. There was no cell service, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work either. We strongly advise against staying here.

The lady was very kind and gave us a warm welcome. Still, I’d expected a proper evening meal, and what we got was a fairly light meal tray with drinks extra. A bottle of water cost €10. I also expected a welcome drink, but there wasn’t one. Such a shame.

If you’re using a Wonderbox, be warned. Véronique makes you feel as though you’ve just been handed a gift box. In the off-season, the meal served in our room was deplorable. Breakfast wasn’t any better, just stale crackers and hard bread. I feel sorry for whoever gave us the box. Whatever you do, don’t go.

The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and meals came on lovely tableware. It’s a cozy farmhouse in a beautiful setting, kept up well and decorated with taste. We received a very warm welcome. Thank you, Véronique.
