We went for dinner on a quiet Thursday in late July '25 and had a great time. The place has a cosy Alpine feel, lots of wood and artifacts, plus a good range of draft beers, including Guinness. I hadn't realised it was an Anglo/French set-up: Rob is the chef and owner, while his French wife Mathilde runs the bar and front of house. Their very friendly Golden Retriever puppy added to the lively, welcoming atmosphere. We both chose the E33.50 set menu, which was excellent value for four courses, with plenty of Savoy-themed options. The food was beautifully presented and so generous that neither of us could manage the cheese course. Even the Savoyard salad starter was almost a meal on its own. I can see why people rate it so highly as a winter ski chalet/hotel, and would recommend it any time of year.

We've stayed here twice now, and we'd choose it again if we return to Chatel. It's a lovely little ski hotel with a laid-back feel. The food and service are good, and everyone puts in the effort to make your stay enjoyable.

The food was the highlight of my lovely stay at the Renard. I was worried a small town might not have many options for my dietary needs, but I let them know well in advance and they went above and beyond. Since I was vegan, they ordered ingredients ahead of time and made me a substantial three-course dinner every day for a week. I never had the same meal twice, and the quality was incredible, just what I wanted after a long day skiing. The non-vegans in my group were very happy with their meals too. Staff, room, and Jacuzzi were all amazing. I can't wait to return!

We had dinner here in mid January 2023 and really enjoyed it. We wanted traditional Savoyard food and weren't disappointed. The price was very reasonable, service was fantastic, and their friendly dog, Skyfall, was a lovely bonus. Highly recommend.

We come back every year with my wife's parents. It's an institution, and the experience is always marvelous. Great menu, friendly atmosphere, and a flat coated retriever who loves people.
