Hôtel Central

We stayed for two nights, with dinner and breakfast. The hostess was friendly and sociable, and the setting was pleasant, but a series of problems left us disappointed. Our room had no hot water on the first evening or the next morning. We were told it was due to lightning, with no apology or compensation. There was also no shower gel, presumably an oversight. The dinner had been described on the phone as a €20 chef-prepared menu with a starter, main, cheese, and dessert. What we got was terrine, pieces of cod à la bordelaise with baked rice, and floating island. The portions were small and seemed store-bought, and hearing the microwave during dinner made us wonder if the food was homemade. We were offered a drink without being told whether it was included. Breakfast cost €10, but the pain au chocolat was badly burnt. The value for money was questionable. The booking was confusing too. We made it by phone and repeatedly checked the total, but received only a payment link, no booking summary. When we arrived, the hostess was unsure of the balance and quoted more than we had agreed. She said the room cost more, then corrected the amount after some discussion and we paid the remainder. We also overheard her complaining about guests, which made things awkward. By chance, we later saw the full menu displayed at the property for €17.50, excluding drinks, though we had paid €20 believing that was the right price. The hostess said drinks were not included, tried to keep the difference, and nearly refused to give us our change. The hostess never acknowledged the mistakes, which left a bitter taste. The place itself is pleasant, but the unclear handling and lack of professionalism detracted from our stay.

The meal was excellent, and we had such a warm welcome at the end of our wedding weekend. Thanks for everything. We’d be happy to come back soon.

For our family meal, they took our requests into account and served something simple, generous, and delicious, all at a very reasonable price. Everyone was welcoming. I highly recommend them.

We stopped in and were disappointed with the restaurant. The turkey skewer came thawed in a tray, the spaghetti had just been reheated, and dessert was the same kind of thing, unwrapped and warmed up. That’s not what I expect from a chef.
